DO YOU ACCEPT GUEST BLOG pitches, for your blog?
Only if you follow my guest blog post pitching guidelines. You can easily read the guidelines by clicking here.
Can I include a back link in the projects that you're working on?
I'm unable to endorse your product or service on other websites because of conflict of interest issues. However, I will happily attach endorsements and coupons to my blog's latest posts or resources section, that meet specific requirements.
For more info about what these requirements are click here.
What's the best way to contact you?
Email is the best possible way to reach out to me. I check my email multiple times a day, and overall it's just what I prefer. My email address, by the way, is email@example.com.
If you insist on reaching out to me via phone or Skype email me first, to confirm a time, or book a meeting.
I maintain regular office hours. See the bottom of the page to find out when the best times are to reach me. I'm located in the Eastern time zone, by the way :)!
If you're ready to start a project, and want to see if there's a spot free on my project rotation, fill out the hire me form, on my contact page. Once I receive your submission, you'll get an automated email, which will tell you what to expect after you fill out the form.
WHAT DO YOU TYPICALLY CHARGE?
I offer competitive rates, and require a 50% deposit upfront for all "a la carte" services. The other 50% is due at the end of a project (when revisions are complete, and the content is ready to be published).
For blog posts you have two options: the standard, under 1,00O words posts, or the long-form posts, that are 1,000 words or more.
For a more detailed overview of blog content rates, based on estimated word count, click here.
My web content rate is $1,200 for a website with six web pages, or $300 per page.
Please note that the following features automatically come with my writing & editing services: content & image optimization/ design (you can check out some of the images that I've designed by visiting my blog), content promotion strategy sessions (an hour long per project), and relevant research from experts in your area of specialty.
Editing projects are $400 per blog post or web page, and $350 per web page for a bundle of 3 or more web pages for the exact same site.
Content Strategy rates are the following: Blog content brainstorming strategy sessions: $250 per session, Blog content promotion strategy sessions: $100 per hour. If you want to buy multiple services in bulk, there are 3 packages. Click here to find out what these packages are. All projects rates are in Canadian dollars.
What's your availability?
I have 5 slots available for new clients/projects per month, and I'm currently working towards an editing certification part-time.
The estimated turnaround time for blog posts and web pages is 5 business days per web page or blog post.
This allows me to prioritize quality over quantity, in order to make your investment as worthwhile as possible.
If you're in a hurry and need the work done in less than 5 business days, contact me right away and let me know, and I'll add a 20% rush fee to your tab.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
I live in Toronto, Canada, so I'm running on Eastern standard time. Sometimes I travel, and when I'm travelling, I'll let you know in advance, and I'll be easily accessible via email, Skype, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, etc.
How do I know that you'll capture my brand's voice?
I take my time with my work, and listen carefully to what you and your audience are saying about your business; and this is what allows me to pay close attention to your brand's (and also your target audience's) values and long-term goals. So don't worry, I got this!
That's also exactly what the values and goals PDF, all other documents included in my client files, the form that I get clients to fill out when they first book a project, and the introductory consultation call is for.
It's basically an amazing opportunity to get to know you, and what really matters to your company a little bit better!
Why should I work with you instead of another writer?
Here are a few reasons why:
I put the heart and soul back into your content, and communicate your message like your best bud. I don't use sketchy tactics like keyword stuffing, sneaky, affiliate endorsements that I don't genuinely believe in, and fluff content, that has no other purpose beyond filling a page.
I take customization seriously. Not only do I get to know your audience, but I also make your values and your goals a huge part of the finished product.
I deeply understand the ups and downs of small to medium sized B2C businesses like yours, with a lot of heart and a lot of cool things to offer this world. In fact, I was raised by an actor, and took my first steps on the floor of my mother's small business, a Canadian diaper store.
My work doesn't stop once the final draft is complete. Rather than competing with the hundreds of writers that are out there, I decided to be the writer that also makes sure that you're reaching the right audience, at the right time. Not only will I write or edit your content, but I'll also coach you through the awkward fumbles of getting your content read by actual people through helping you strategically use the social media/ email tools & accounts you already have.
How long have you been freelancing?
I started freelancing in the summer of 2014, so it's been three years now. I have also been actively engaged in content creation and social media marketing, via the work that I've done both in the not-for-profit sector and on my blog, since 2009.
My main services are blog + web page writing & editing.
I also offer blog post-focused consultations, for both content idea brainstorming and promotion-focused questions and concerns.
And I primarily work with B2C (individual consumer purchase/interaction-focused) B2C business owners & social media/ marketing-focused businesses; a lot of my clients are interested in setting up a blog or website, want to improve their existing website's content, or are eager to use publishing tools such as LinkedIn Pulse or Medium Digest, in order to boost their web traffic.
All of my writing/editing services come with everything from content promotion strategy sessions, for talking through how you're going to promote your content, to online content essentials, such as audience, social media, and search friendly keywords, headlines, and images.
For writing projects, you also get a complimentary round of revisions, so that you can request a change (or not) on anything you want, without any additional fees.
For more info about the topics that I specialize in, click here.
WHO ARE YOUR CLIENTS?
All of my clients are B2C (consumer-focused) brands.
For example, I've worked with major brands, such as Yellowpages and E-Bay, and not-for-profits, startups, and small businesses, such as Lokafy and BeFunky Inc.
How should I pay you?
With "a la carte" services you have two options:
1) You can pay me online via credit card or interact online. Please note that there is a 3% processing fee for all payments from major credit and debit cards that aren't e-transfer based.
2) You can pay me via E-Transfer.
With packages, you're signing up for an automatic subscription/retainer-based service, and the processing fee also applies.
When you get a package, and the project is accepted, you'll sign a contract.
Then you will be required to fill out an automatic payment form, so that the money can be automatically deposited out of your account electronically, for the amount of time specified in the contract, and also via my website's packages section.
I cannot proceed with the package you signed up for unless your contract is signed, and you have filled out the payment form.
Please note that with all "a la carte" services I require a 50% deposit upfront, at the beginning of a project. I'll bill you for the other 50% at the end of your project.
I've never worked with a writer before? What can I expect?
A very low percentage of my clients have worked with writers before, so a lot of the concerns and questions you likely have aren't exactly different than what I'm used to.
And no matter what, I'll send you regular updates.
At the beginning of a project, I'll invite you to Asana, a project management app, so that you can keep track at all times of what stage of the process the project is in, and know when revisions, follow up consultations and feedback, and invoices are scheduled/ due.
When we first start working together, I'll also send you a bunch of new client PDFs electronically, which will make communicating what you want to get out of your content, and understanding my process a little bit easier.
If I'm working with more than one team member, let me know, and I'll also give them admin access to new client docs and project-specific Asana tasks.
I was also raised by parents that have both been self-employed or business owners, throughout their careers, so I really understand the stress and priorities of small to medium sized businesses like yours.
Plus I'm just a patient person overall, so if I'm confusing the heck out of you, just speak up and I'll help you out.
What types of editing do you do?
A lot depends on what need to be done, to improve your content.
If you only need someone to look at the mechanics of your content, such as the facts, spelling, grammar, and word choices, I'll happily do that.
If you're not really sure if the overall structure/ flow of your content will suit your audience, and make sense to them, I'll also happily take a look at that.
Because my specialty is in online content, regardless of the type of editing you need, I'll also make sure that your content is web, search engine, and social media friendly. This involves taking a look at everything from keywords and headlines, to paragraph structure.
I use a lot of the common industry standard practices that I learned via my Editing Certification studies, such as Microsoft Word's track changes feature, and author queries, although I also often use Google Docs for blog content edits, and will happily give you feedback directly from Wordpress if necessary.
