A writer, editor, and blog content strategist for B2C (consumer-focused) brands.
And I believe that quality content is about customization and building valuable long-term relationships with customers.
So...if that's something that you also value, and you also want online content that appeals to customers' values and long-term goals, while getting more customers in the door, and more money in your pocket, then you're in the right place!
Who I work with & what they hire me for:
B2C (consumer-focused) business owners hire me to customize the customer experience in order to make it suit the needs, interests, and values of their company and their customers. And the end goal is to produce a memorable brand image.
Lifestyle-focused startup founders hire me because they want to use content marketing to attract everyone from journalists, to customers and investors who might want to buy their products or services, support their work, or start a conversation about their startup.
B2C marketing professionals & agencies hire me to outsource their website and blog content marketing projects to a specialist in the process of reaching an audience online.
And I can help you...
Find the right tools to help your content resonate and build a loyal following on a variety of social media platforms.
Use and upload images that will boost your rankings on search engines and compel readers to click on your content.
Upload and schedule content at the best possible times for your audience
Turn casual readers into loyal fans, with authentic, engaging content that appeals to what your audience needs in the here and now.
Sell your products or services online to your ideal audience (individual consumers rather than an entire business or industry.)
My background in writing & editing is extremely diverse. I've written & edited everything from about & services available pages, to various profiles on local businesses, community initiatives, and special events. Not only have I written & edited content for online audiences, but I've also explored, and have formal training in all types of writing: from fiction, poetry, and scriptwriting, to independent journalism.
And it started with a realization that even though I don't consider myself a "real" salesperson, the one thing that I'm really good at is attracting an audience, through careful listening.
I soon found out that companies, that wanted to sell their work through meaningful connections, desperately needed people like me.
And I loved every minute of it, so I focused on building an audience, while helping businesses worldwide with their online content.
Flash forward to today and...
My work has been featured on a wide variety of marketing, lifestyle, and entrepreneurship-focused websites such as Millo.co, the Weebly Inspiration Center, Buffer, and ProBlogger. I've also developed web and blog content for major organizations such as Yellowpages, E-Bay, and GAO RFID Inc, and startups/ small businesses such as Lokafy and BeFunky Inc.
My experiences running my own blog, working within the not-for-profit sector, and running my own business have lead to seven years of content creation/marketing experience.
In addition to my client work, I'm also working towards an Editing Certification part-time at George Brown College in Toronto.
"I really liked that Rosemary had experiences with interviewing small businesses. Her experiences were extremely useful for the Lokafy interview project that we did. She asked some really interesting questions that got everyone to share a lot of interesting information for travellers and locals alike.”
- Kiran Samra, founder, Lokafy
Fun facts (about me)
When I'm not writing, you can often find me training for my next long-distance race. I can sometimes be seen at 10K, 5K, and marathon events (and random street corners) in Toronto, looking a little bit fierce and intense, and running super fast.
I'm a passionate and opinionated consumer of nice teas (because of my half-English heritage and upbringing) and drink way too much coffee.
I was born with a permanent disability called Dyspraxia: I only mention it because that's a huge part of who I am, and impacts everything from how I write about other people, to my approach to writing. I never patronize or write about people in a one-dimensional way, and prefer to treat people like people no matter who they are and where they come from.
A sense of humour is always 100% necessary.
The backbone of every project I work on & every client interaction.
Respect & Professionalism:
Rather than taking a "my way or the highway" approach, or a "the customer is always right" approach all involved always have equal say.
So...why pick me?
One of the best parts of working with me, is the fact that I offer a lot more than just content for your blog or website.
In fact, I also:
Combine content creation with content engagement strategy, and make sure that my clients don't hit the publish button without knowing exactly who they want to reach and how they want to reach them.
Prioritize transparency, and use project management tools such as Trello and Asana to make sure that it's always 100% clear what's coming next, and what needs to be done.
Get the stress, pressure, and ups and downs of running/ marketing a business. As the daughter of a former small business owner, and a professional actor, I bring the unique experience to my work of growing up in a world of entrepreneurship and creativity.
